I am hispanic, and many of the older generation of the people I grew up with face a threat of the loss of their language. Their children no longer speak Spanish and refuse to learn about their history. Their past may be forgotten and they irrationally resist the influence of the western world, going so far as to disrespect it in passive ways.

Then again, I don't really know the history or the future of Japan. I just would like to think I understand people, and though I don't support the attitudes some may have against foreigners, I can say that I understand how it may feel and I await the time I won't need to.
