Just joined. but i was wondering how do i join groups?

Up near the top, there's a menu titled 'Community', in that is Groups. Find the group you want to join, if you can't find it on that page, you can browse through all of them here. There should be an option to join.

Now, personally the groups were more of a fad than anything else, so while you're free to join them as you wish, there isn't much going on there.
