Echoen rescinded the DNP list. The list was also old enough to where the majority of creators on it are no longer actively creating product.

This is the correct response. No more DNP.

Yeah, but the plugin didn't work, though removing all the plugin files didn't remove it. And it won't go away! Still hammering on this, arrgh.

Hi.  I've been patiently waiting for images to show back up, knowing that indexing all the old content, but it's been so long still, so i thought i would report it.  My view is like this: [Image Relic #1214346 ][Image Relic #1214347 ][Image Relic #1214348 ][Image Relic #1214349 ][Image Relic #1214350 ]

i'm using latest Firefox (autoupdated)  been a problem since the change in forum to MyBB.
ok, thx.

You probably already knew this or had other things that take priority, but apparently themes can be cached under './cache/themes/' in MyBB, so it's possible that clearing that out would make themes work.

I'm assuming you've tried this already, but did you make sure that any cache files that might have the "NUMTHANKEDLIKED" string in them were cleared/removed?

This also might fix some of your theming problems, potentially.

If this is a Unix/Linux server you can probably search for the "NUMTHANKEDLIKED" string under the server's forum directories using grep to get an idea of what's making the string stick around.
I don't know how it's stored, though, so you should probably make sure it's running under a very "nice" process (basically, so it doesn't hog I/O and CPU cycles).

Running something like this under the forum directory should be enough to do a search without compromising on throughput/functionality (basically by telling it to pause the search whenever any other process needs to run, and to only search during idle periods).

Assuming you're currently in the myBB directory on the server in a shell, this is correct for a recursive search; if you want to provide a path to search replace the '.' at the end with your path. It'll print out all file names with matching text inside. Of course, this depends on the strings not being compressed.
Code:
ionice -c idle nice -n 19 grep -l -r TYL_NUMTHANKEDLIKED .

Usual disclaimer: this is theoretical; I have no idea how your setup is and if you don't know what this is doing you probably shouldn't run it on a production server. I am certain it won't cause permanent harm to the system or corrupt any data, but I don't want to inadvertently DoS anything because of some process running on the machine hogging time.

I run a (very small-time) linux server of my own and use Unix systems pretty much exclusively at home. That's my only credential for this stuff, though.

Any progress on the website re: importing, bug fixes etc? I know you guys probably have your hands full transitioning the old FP to the new format, but a regular progress report would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

I can't tell if this is incomplete migration, missing functionality, missing something really obvious, or a combination, but:

  • I cannot tell how to interact with groups from my control panel. (The likely-looking link just takes me to a page explaining that I can't remove myself from the "Registered Users" group.)
  • The sub-forums associated with some groups apparently exist.
  • The groups themselves appear inaccessible.
I tried a bunch of searches, but it looks like there isn't discussion of "groups" in the News forum, so this looks like it hasn't been mentioned.
GENERATION 27:
The first time you see this, copy it into your signature on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.

Most likely artifacts from the migration. We will add that to the list.

Groups was one section of the forum that was not imported from the old site. Groups are no longer a thing.

Can anyone tell me if sig pics are ever going to be fixed to allow for uploaded (not linked) .gifs to be used again? Or is this already on the list?

A plugin is required to restore that feature. We have it on our list, but we are prioritizing taking care of bugs we have on the back end. As stated in the June Update post, we do not have a full time techie to work on all of these issues. Once we find a skilled IT specialist that can dedicate the time to fixing everything, we will get everything worked out in due time.
