It may be used more in the gaming community. However, I believe it applies to the forum, imageboard, etc. communities as well.
On forums, the more common description of such individuals is the label "Troll" or "Forum Troll".

We have a few trolls pop up from time to time, but I'd like to think the mod staff is getting better at finding and stomping them before they cause too much disruption. If we're not, please don't hesitate to use the "Report Post" option, that's what it's here for.
