I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes the hardest part of writing something is coming up with names. I can sit around for hours, days, or even weeks just pounding a fist into my skull trying to come up with names. "What the hell am I going to name these damn characters?" But my muse is cruel and capricious and rarely ever answers me.

When it comes to stories or RPs, I usually hit up one of the "20000 baby names" sites and pick something that seem appropriate, or that I can work a pun in on the sly. You aren't the only writer who has difficulty coming up with good names. Luckily, the internet has our back.
As far as names on forums or IM handles, I don't think much about it. I've been lucky enough to have the same one for quite awhile now. Not that it's the best, it's really just an adjective and a noun *shrugs*
