To be fair, it is often difficult to nail the gender down on some of our posters, but that's the internet for you. Still, don't let it bother you. I know several girls who enjoy it (a few who aren't on this site) so there are more of you out there than you can guess.
I can sympathize about school art. Hard when you are a natural born doodler not to doodle something in the margins that would get you odd looks from your classmates or professor. Luckily, most of the painting assignments here have been landscapes and still lifes so the temptation isn't all that high.
