Let’s Do It Again! Unofficial Writing Contest (Interest Check 2023)
Story by Senshi
Well, hello there!
I’d like to discuss the possibility of a writing contest with you, again! Specifically, I’d like to discuss the rules and the deadline with you. Which rules (if any) do you think the contest should have? How long should the deadline be? Do you want voter or panel review for entries?
This isn’t about the “official” or “fan-fiction” contests from years past. This discussion will be about a new event.
I don’t want senseless bickering over rules. At least, I don’t want bickering over hypothetical situations born of irrational fear. Remember, this is about the writers and the community, not your peculiarities or fears.
No judges, the community will decide a winner, unless there’s enough users that want a panel review. Only serious and proven hinderances to entrants or readers should be discussed. There’s no obligation to read an entrant’s work, so don’t ask to stifle an author’s creativity and verbosity with a word limit. If their entry is too long or short, they will deal with any consequences, and you can sleep easy knowing they reaped what they sowed.
Ideally, this will be a contest between peers with participation from the community. There will be no gold cups or silver participation trophies. Just the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
Regarding author anonymity, one shouldn’t hide from competition. The better writers will be recognized for their talent, not their name. Some content will be desired over others. There’s no way around that. It’s a competition. You’re not children. You don’t need to be coddled. Your peers will challenge you. So, why not put your best foot forward and accept that you’re going against some of FP’s most talented wordsmiths? This isn’t about being cutthroat. The best entry as voted by the community will win and wearing a cloak won’t prevent that. If you’ve got the right stuff, you’ve got a chance. If you don’t, keep working on your craft.
By the way, this isn’t my way or the highway. I’m just giving you food for thought. I’m open to suggestions and debate. Despite what I said above and may say below, there currently are no rules for submissions or methods to determine victory. But if enough users want this event to be exactly like the official contests of the past (rules and all), it will be. I’ve no issue with that.
At the moment, this is a writing contest. Not a futanari contest. Not a porn contest. Unless community opinion changes, you’re allowed to write what you want. And, no, this isn’t about whether or not I want non-erotic or non-futanari fiction in the event. I will not read non-futa or non-erotic submissions. If I wanted it to be up to me, you’d all be writing five thousand word submissions with futa/female and mandatory sex action. But it’s not about me. It’s up to you. It’s about your freedom, not my preferences or beliefs.
I hope this’ll be a showcase for writing talent of varying degrees. I hope it’ll generate content the community will enjoy. I hope it’ll encourage greater reader feedback. And I hope there’s enough interest to make it happen. If it’s not official, I don’t care. A contest doesn’t need some label or involvement from staff to be legit. All it needs is you, your work, and the readers.
