​A Brief Intermission

It can get rather boring, being trapped upon a meteor hurtling through the farthest reaches of the Furthest Ring. And it was a fact that was becoming harder and harder to ignore, no matter how hard it’s inhabitants tried to do so. And the two young paramours currently taking a pleasant stroll hand-in-hand through it’s dark depths were no exception to this rule.

“You know, Kan-Dear, I have been thinking lately...” Said the pale-skinned human who wore voluminous orange rose bearing a shining yellow sun upon her breast, a deep hood pulled back and leaving her round and cute face bare.

“Oh? How Very Peculiar Of You, Rose, Usually You Do So Little Of That.” Quipped the human’s troll companion. Her skin a dusky grey, almost blending with her dark black clothes, her only splash of color a blood-red ankle-length skirt, but even then she was practically monochromatic next to her ostentatious companion. Candy corn colored horns poked through her raven-black hair, one a straight spike, the other a crooked hook.

“Well I had been thinking that your mastery of our ‘human sarcasm’ is now all but complete,” The troll giggled at this, “But mostly I have wondering about your race and your culture.”

Kanaya looked partly surprised, and mostly confused. “Is The Book You Took From Karkat Not... Educational Enough?”

“It’s certainly informative, yes, but I find it rather dry and long-winded. And coming from me, that’s saying something. And, of course, while theoretical knowledge is always nice, it is sometimes better to have more... practical knowledge as it were.” Rose said with a wry smile.

“Why Whatever Do You Mean?” Kanaya asked, feigning ignorance, although dark green coloring of her cheeks Rose suspected she knew exactly what she meant.

“Well there are... certain physical differences between female and male trolls, although from what I understand your primary sexual characteristics are identical. And it would seem that your secondary sexual characteristics are similar to that of us humans.”

“A Rather Clinical Way Of Saying It.” Kanaya added, further proving her vice-like grasp of sarcasm. Rose laughed it away though, in truth she often so overly-analytical simply because she enjoyed the reactions it got out of her friend.

“Well then, to get to the point, Darling Kanaya, I’m asking why you have breasts.” She stated as matter-of-factly as possible. The troll’s cheeks turned a deeper shade of green as she blushed harder, trying to stutter out a response.
